Frequently Asked Questions
Clear, straight-forward answers to how TopTipper works.
How does scoring work in different competition types?
TopTipper supports three primary competition scoring modes:
- Tip the Winners: Earn standard points (typically 1 point per match) for correctly choosing the winning team or draw.
- Margin Tipping: Predict both the winning team and the margin of victory. Points are awarded based on how close your margin prediction is to the actual final difference.
- Exact Score: Predict exact final scorelines. Full points are awarded for exact scores, with bonus points for correct match outcomes.
What are Banker and Joker power-ups?
Power-ups allow you to add tactical strategy to your weekly round:
- Joker Pick: Select one match per round where your earned points are doubled. If your pick loses, no points are deducted.
- Banker Power-Up: Lock in your highest confidence pick of the round for an additional +5 bonus points if correct.
- Both power-ups can be stacked on the same fixture if you want maximum upside.
How do I create and manage a private office pool?
Head over to My Groups, click Create Group, choose your competition and set a pool name. You will receive a unique 8-character invite code and a shareable join link to send to colleagues and friends.
Office pools include private message boards, emoji reactions, pinned announcements, and custom mini-leagues.
What happens if I miss the tip deadline for a match?
Tips lock down strictly at match kickoff UTC. Once locked, tips cannot be edited. If you forget to tip, default tips are automatically assigned according to the competition rules (usually assigning the away team or a default margin) to ensure you stay in the seasonal race.
Is TopTipper free to play?
Yes. TopTipper is completely free to play. There are no mandatory subscription fees or pay-to-win mechanisms. It is designed for authentic sports community enjoyment, workplace camaraderie, and bragging rights.
How do Head-to-Head comparisons work?
You can compare your tipping record against any other player by visiting their profile or using the Head-to-Head route. We calculate direct accuracy comparisons, common tipped matches, streak histories, and badge counts.
